Deirdre O’Boyle Hooper, M.D.
Dr. Deirdre Hooper is a board-certified dermatologist who specializes in cosmetic, medical, and laser dermatology. She is a lifelong learner, committed to excellence, and passionate about helping her patients. Dr. Hooper has a deep interest in helping her patients understand skin health and guiding them to achieve their goals. Her vast experience, extensive training, artistic eye and gentle touch contribute to the exceptional care she provides to her patients. She believes that the way your skin looks and feels impacts how you feel, and she uses her knowledge to educate and treat every patient, so that they feel confident in the skin they are in.
Dr. Hooper is an honors graduate of Louisiana State University School of Medicine. She received her undergraduate degree in biology from Louisiana Tech University, where she graduated cum laude. Her postdoctoral training included Louisiana State University Department of Dermatology as well as a Women’s Dermatologic Society Mentorship with Dr. Pearl Grimes in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Hooper contributed to the rebuilding of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina by co-founding Audubon Dermatology with Dr. Sarah Jackson in 2006. In addition to her private practice, Dr. Hooper is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Dermatology at both Louisiana State University and Tulane University.
A recognized and proven leader in the field of dermatology, Dr. Hooper lectures both nationally and internationally on cosmetic dermatology, sharing her knowledge, expertise and techniques with colleagues. She serves in a leadership capacity for various distinguished dermatology, cosmetic and laser societies, including serving on the Board of Directors for the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery and Women’s Dermatologic Society, as Past President of the Louisiana Dermatology Society, and as chair and member of numerous committees. Based on her meritorious contributions to the field of Dermatology, she has been invited to join both the American Dermatologic Association and the Noah Worcester Dermatological Society. Scientific curiosity and a love for collaborating with peers has led to her participation in numerous clinical studies and service as a consultant, speaker and Advisory Board member in the fields of injectables, acne, rosacea, and skin cancer. In addition to her research contributions, Dr. Hooper serves as a reviewer for multiple medical journals, has published articles in peer-reviewed literature, and has authored two book chapters. Due to her acknowledged expertise in medical and cosmetic dermatology, Dr. Hooper is regularly quoted in major publications and broadcasts a bi-weekly medical news segment for our local Fox 8 News station. Dr. Hooper trains residents and colleagues in cosmetic and medical dermatology around the country.
Dr. Hooper lives in New Orleans, LA with her husband and their three children. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and horseback riding.
